Pasadena's Rose Bowl Flea Market

Pasadena's Rose Bowl Flea Market

image.jpg

Amidst the soaring palm trees & beneath the rolling hills of Los Angeles, a flea market encircles Pasadena's iconic Rose Bowl Stadium every 2nd Sunday of the month. And since I just happened to be home on that 2nd Sunday, my mom & I seized the opportunity to drive up to LA & check out this market we had been hearing rumors about for so long. [supposedly this is the market that Shabby Chic's Rachel Ashwell scours through in the wee hours of the morning]. So we packed up that Sunday morning and drove up north to scope out the scene for ourselves!

I have to say, sometimes I find it tough arriving at a particular market for the first time, simply because you have to do a little extra work in figuring out how it's set up & where the items that you are interested in would be found. Unfortunately, I didn't pull up a layout of the market ahead of time [like you can easily do on Pinterest] so we found ourselves roaming in more vintage clothes than vintage home decor. Nontheless, I was sure thankful for all of the hat tents the Rose Bowl had to offer because it was a H O T one out there.

We began noticing that the regulars came prepared with umbrellas, hats, sunnies, & lots of sunscreen.

slowly, after a while, we began to find our way.

Antiques and Home Decor are to the left!

love me some brass.

We may not have come across any furniture steals or finds that we were completely falling over, but I can say the Rose Bowl vendor's do offer up some fabulous pillows.

We may not have come across any furniture steals or finds that we were completely falling over, but I can say the Rose Bowl vendor's do offer up some fabulous pillows. There are a handful of vendors who were swooning me with

euro linens & grain sack pillows

tip: it's never a bad idea to bring a measuring tape along. you may never know when it'll come in handy!

So after rummaging through the unwanted grain sacks [i.e. the ones not in perfect condition: patches & a few stains included] we were able to walk away from the Rose Bowl with 4 grain sacks for a steal of a deal that just needed a little lovin. {lots of soaking in white wash & a few runs through the wash & they are good to go!} I can't wait to reveal the final product once I drive them on up to their home in San Francisco!

Well, the Rose Bowl has been unearthed & it's rumored mystery to me is but a memory. It's a great market for all the vintage & swap meet clothing connoisseurs out there. It's not one of my first choices of markets in California, but I would definitely go back to pick up some more grain sacks!

Until next time I'll just keep spotting the ballerina out from the bunch.
