from the streets
from the beach
Patty & I took a little retreat from lively Lisbon to an alluring oasis known as
Praia da Adraga.
Adraga is a small, more private feeling beach about 12km from downtown, popular vacation destination Sintra, Portugal.
So we hopped on the train, booked an Airbnb, & destined ourselves to some much needed rest & relaxation.
We could not have been more pleased when we departed from the train & arrived at...
Casa da Adraga
The house had a beautiful garden pool, gazebo space, & a kitchen that any chef would be thrilled to cook in. We felt pretty spoiled & quickly made ourselves at home.
The hosts are incredible people. Really, they a warm & welcoming couple who invite you to experience the "Sintra Lifestyle"
Calm, Cool, & Collected.
The casa is about a 15 minute, up-hill walk away from the nearest village,
Our walk was filled with the rolling hills & comfort of the countryside.
Once we got to the top, we quickly discovered the neighborhood was full of characters. Like these dogs who were constantly on guard out front of the ice-cream shop.
And we quickly fell in love with the local, organic market.
I love the neighborhly vibe of the small, beach village. Where everyone seems to know everyone. The locals were kind, laid back, & quick to meet the needs of others.
We may have had to break a sweat in order to reach the village
but that's because we were at the luxury of being just 5 minutes away from the real destination, the Ocean.
